A Perfect Day

10 Feb

.

I loved today.

.
For one, I had the house to myself! ….Ahhh….

.

For two, my piddle and play time were equal. Let me explain. For every little thing I did, I got equal play time.

I was on the elliptical by 6am, and had the kids out the door with no arguments by 7:15am.  That deserved a big reward.  A cup of coffee and my usual, awesome breakfast of oatmeal, a banana, and yogurt while checking emails and reading blogs.

I didn’t really have a plan for today, but suddenly I felt like baking. (Surprised, aren’t ya).  Instead of cupcakes, though, I baked two types of cornbread (savory and sweet).  Both are new recipes and incredibly tasty. Afterwards,  I needed a break, so I played my favorite computer game, Word Racer.  Then I put in a few loads of laundry and sat down to read “After Ann”.  (Awesome book by the way)  Then I did some toning exercises, followed by lunch and more reading.

What to do next…  Well, my cornbread needed a meal to go with them.  So I cooked up 4 pounds of ground beef – half for chili, half for sloppy joes.  Whew.  That deserved a soak in the tub.

After I was cleaned up, I cleaned up my cooking mess, loaded the dishwasher, and played more Word Racer!

.

Can it get any better than that?

.

Yep.

.

The entire day I had Pandora playing in the background.  How could I not be in a great mood with ALL my favorite songs playing? I love that I can plug in Nora Jones, Adele, Christina Perri, and Sara Maclachlan and it knows exactly what I want to hear.  It even plays songs I didn’t know I wanted to hear.

Finally, I was scheduled to bowl tonight, and most times I would try to find someone else to bowl, but weirdly enough, I didn’t dread going tonight.  Although when I started my first game, I wished I hadn’t gone.  But I made an adjustment, and started throwing strikes, and the rest of the night was fun!  I almost felt like the old me – bowling well and feeling competitive.

And now, I have my ice cream, my laptop and House Hunters on TV.  The perfect end to a perfect day!

It sounds like a dream day lol Production, relaxation! Seems like you got plenty of positive energy from your day and it’s probably why you were in the mood for bowling:-)

With days like that, it makes it hard to go back to work. Sounds like a very relaxing, productive day. We all need more days like that.

Lucky enough for me, I have today off too. But I’m working this weekend and I will have an extremely busy schedule next week, so I’m going to try and hold on to yesterday’s memories. And really, today should be okay too. I plan to bake cupcakes!!

OOh I love perfect days like that!!! Like you, any perfect day for me (or segment of a day) requires music in the background. I love my tunes while I am doing anything and everything.

Sometimes I wonder why I ever go through days without Pandora in the background. Music puts me in an awesome mood. I’d probably enjoy winter more if I would just play more music. Heck, if I can get through toilet cleaning with music blaring in the background, I’m certain I could get through winter…

My supervisor who started me at the hotel and is now a good friend – we used to come up with theme music that would be appropriate for all the different types of guests -both happy and unhappy guests-…so if someone was walking up to the desk and we knew what type of guest it would be, we would mutter a little bit of theme music to ourselves as they walked. They never heard of us course, but it was fun.

What a day. Both productive AND relaxing. Usually, you don’t get both together.
