Nearing the end

31 Aug

National Dog Day fell this week.  We didn’t tell Chancie.  She’s already spoiled enough.

Case in point.

Recently she’s been freaking out about walking on the hardwood floors.  She has a hard time getting traction and has slipped a few times.  I’m sure it bothers her aging joints.

When she found herself marooned on the living room rug, she began whining.  She was so afraid to get off the carpet, but her people were in the next room! So Hubby rolled out the red carpet for her.  Well, none of them are red actually, but he rolled out every carpet piece we had so she has a trail through the house.

Since we don’t have enough carpets to line the entire floor, she’ll wait at the end of one until Hubby places a carpet square in front of her.  Eventually that carpet square has to be returned so she can get back to where she started.

Yeah, she doesn’t need to know she has an actual day to honor her.  No telling what she’d expect then.  And there’s only room for ONE princess in this house.

Because Hubby’s at home most days, he’s been doing a majority of the packing and fixing up of the place.  We’re living amongst stacks of boxes, but it won’t be long til we can start bringing things over to the new place!

The transferring of the house is coming along smoothly.  We have no termites and no radon (whatever THAT is).  The appraisal went well.  The spider killers and the garage door fixer have all done their jobs.  Seems all that’s left is to sign.  Just a couple of weeks to go!

We are all ready for this new chapter of our lives. (And to be closer to the High School!)  It’s making it easy to turn over our home to the young couple just starting their own family.  I can’t promise I won’t feel a twinge of sadness when we turn over the keys though.

In the meantime, I’m relishing not having to clean the house.  Once everything’s out, we’ll do a deep cleaning.  I’m saving all my energy til then.

How sweet that you’re helping your doggy get around!

The hardwood is like hot lava to her! She literally will NOT walk on it. Poor girl. We couldn’t not help her.

Nah. You don’t spoil Chancie (much). I get how the wood floors might upset her a bit and she is looking for some traction. Good that you have so many carpet remnants and rugs for her. I hope the new place has less hardwood for her to get verklempt about.

Looks like the move is progressing well. I know it will be hard to say good bye to the old homestead but it is another step down the road.

One of those carpets is our shower rug. So now when I get out of the shower, I have to be careful not to slip. wth.
It seems as Chancie gets older, she’s becoming more demanding. Much like elderly people, I suppose. When she wants something, she’s not afraid to ask for it, and keeps asking until she gets it. She’ll “talk” to my hubby until he gets her a treat or gets on the floor with her or plays with her pull toy. Funny really. 🙂

I love the “red carpet treatment” for Chancie. I’m thinking there’s more than one princess in that house, just sayin’.
It sounds like things are progressing in good order for your move! Why mess that up by cleaning?

I keep saying I’M the princess in hopes that someday somebody will believe me. But we all know it’s Chancie. Whatever.
Let me tell you about this cleaning. Seems our new buyers are EXTREMELY excited about our house. And of that, I am happy. But they keep wanting to come over to see the place! We want to accommodate them, but I have to clean every time they stop by! This week they’ve wanted to come by twice. WTH! It’ll be their house pretty soon. Can’t they wait til then??
*just blowing off steam* Now I gotta go clean. And pick up all the carpets….

What’s the point of having a dog if you can’t spoil her a little bit, right? I love the carpet path your hubby laid out for Chancie! He’s a big softie! 🙂

Wow, the move seems like it’s coming up fast! You seem to be at peace with it all. Proof that you’re doing the right thing!

He IS a big softie deep down. I love that about him. 🙂
The move is happening without me. I’m on an 8 day stretch of work, so Hubby’s been moving things over slowly the last few days. I’m off Friday and Saturday though, so we hope to get the big stuff moved over then. So exciting!
